Elder, Thomas L. HANDWRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS ON THE DISPOSITION OF ELDER'S STOCK. Two undated sheets of handwritten instructions, both written on printed pictorial stationery of The Ottaray Hotel, Greenville, S.C. 24 by 15 cm. A bit worn; fold-marks, occasional water-spotting of the ink text. Ex Leonard Holland; ex John W. Adams (October 6, 2001 Kolbe sale, lot 494); ex Craig Smith. Apparently written shortly before Elder's death or during a serious illness. The instructions appear to have been intended for Elder's executor or perhaps a trusted family member or friend. On one sheet he writes on the front: "The proper way to find out the values is thru the sale catalogues of Wayte Raymond." The backs of both sheets are filled with information concerning the location and value of Elder's stock, scribbled in closely spaced lines, sans punctuation, and occasionally difficult to read due to the occasional water spotting. Excerpts follows: "Look for a trunk middle of floor important Catalogue of Mougey Sale Price list of this sale in Library upstairs...
