</font></strong>Done on Feb. 25th, 1970, by the extremely creative artist, A. Laughlin, ?El Paso? is truly a Mexicana extravaganza that draws the viewer?s eye. This original watercolor painting has been painted in a loose and energetic fashion, having colors meld together in perfect harmony. Although the forms have been abstracted up to a certain point, it is not too difficult to identify a man riding a burro (donkey) into town, where there appears to be a bizarre taking place. The bright colors of the ponchos are certainly eye catching as Laughlin captures a sunny day in a culturally rich town. This fantastic piece has been double matted, with a rich top mat of golden tan and a bottom mat of deep coral. Not only do these vivid colors also reflect those seen in the painting, but the very distinctive specialty cuts on the top mat, which allows the lovely coral color to show through, also reflects the patterns one sees on the ponchos in the background. Framed in a very unique medium toned wood frame that has been splashed with gold, bronze, umber, and orange hues of paint; this gorgeous frame truly completes the painting with a rustic feeling all its own. In totality, this incredible work of art measures 28 3/8? x 22 3/4?, which includes the dimensions of the frame. In addition, this painting has been signed and dated in the lower right hand corner.
