EISENHOWER, DWIGHT D.
(1890 - 1969) 34th President of the United States, Supreme Commander of Allied forces in Europe during World War II and largely responsible for the successful invasion on D-Day. Fine association T.L.S. ""Eisenhower"" on Columbia University letterhead, 1p. 4to., New York, July 27, 1948, to his old comrade-in-arms, Gen. Anthony McAuliffe, the heroic defender of Bastogne whose response to a German surrender ultimatum was ""Nuts!"". Eisenhower writes, in part: ""àThe honor would be mine could I attend the reunion of the 101st Airborne Division Associationàto see familiar faces again and to talk over the European campaign with the veterans of a great division. àOn my behalf, will you extend to the Association my regards and best wishesà"". A few tape stains in corners and blank areas on right side, otherwise very good.
