<b>246. ALBERT EINSTEIN</b> (1879 - 1955) American physicist whose Theory of Relativity and studies of mass and energy relationships revolutionized the field of physics. A superb association item, a 7" x 8 1/2" high-relief bronze medal showing a side profile portrait of Einstein in 1930, carved by German artist and sculptor Arthur Lowenthal, along with a fine content T.L.S. by Einstein "<i>A. Einstein</i>" 1p. 4to., Princeton, July 30, 1948, in German to Lowenthal, in part: <i>"...The parcel that you mentioned does not come from me. I am certain that your vase is a valuable object and that it would be for a museum or an art lover. However, you must understand that I am not a connoisseur...I can only give you the authority to mention, in your own letters, that I have admired the particular piece and also your work in semi-precious stones...</i>". The letter is handsomely presented with a b/w portrait of Einstein in a gilt frame. Medal has wire at verso for hanging.
