DNA TACON O.S.A.(1913-1980 ) CARNIVAL #1, Oil on canvas, signed and dated 1945 lower left, titled and numbered #4 unidentified exhibition label verso 41.3" x 30" - 104.8 x 76.2 cm. Note: A painter and violinist, Edna became known as "one of the leading feminine pioneers in non-objective painting..." Prior to moving to Hamilton in the 1930's she studied under Kandinsky and in the 1940's exhibited in solo exhibitions in New York and Toronto. During the 1940's, Edna exhibited on ten occassions many which were shown at The Fine Art Galleries of Eaton's College, Toronto Literature: Stuart MacCuaig, Climbing the Cold White Peaks, A Survey of Artists in and from Hamilton 1910-1950, pgs. 133-134; Joan Murray, Canadian Art in the Twentieth Century, p. 52 See illustration
