Approx 1840-60, England. 11 inches tall. Popularised by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, he wears a tartan scarf and socks and leans on a stout walking stick. Great detail to sporran and feathers of cap. Applied grassy plants under his feet. Very fine and amazing that they have survived. Kilt and blouse in beautiful rich cobalt blue. Like most early Staffordshire, the piece is well crazed but has no chips/cracks/damage of any sort.
