EARLY POST WAR JP SAUER #20 DRILLING WITH SCOPE.

Cal. 16 Ga., 2 3/4" / 8x57 JRS. S# 82541. The 23 3/4" bbl. set is fitted with full length matted rib holding pop up U-notch rear and gold bead front sights. Claw bases are fitted and caliber is stamped in unmatted portion of rib. Tops of bbls. are stamped with steel type. Bottoms of bbls. are stamped with Novemeber 1953 East German Nitro proofs for 16 Ga., 2 3/4" and 8x57 JRS. Case hardened scallop backed blitz action has rifle selector on top tang and is fitted with Greener type safety. Action also features pin cocking indicators, crossbolt third fastener, side clips and double triggers (front set). Action is engraved with sprays of scroll. Maker's name is on each side. Triggerplate is marked with Sauer caveman logo. Trigger guard is blued steel. Hard rubber capped pistol grip buttstock of lightly fiddle figured European walnut measures 14 1/2" over hard rubber buttplate with "SSU" Sauer logo. Stock features small right hand shadowline cheekpiece and well cut point pattern checkering at grip. Drilling also has sling loops. Matching splinter forend has Deeley release. Drilling is fitted with Hertel & Reuss 2 3/4 - 10x rail scope with 3 post and dot reticle in claw mounts, rear with windage. MEASUREMENTS: SHOTGUN BBL: Bore Diameter: R .664", L .664" . Restriction: R .014" (MOD), L .016" (MOD). Min. Wall Thickness: R .031", L .032". STOCK: DAH: 2 3/4". DAC: 1 3/4+" LOP: 14 1/2". CAST: neutral. WEIGHT WITHOUT SCOPE: 7 lb. 6 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: comes with black plastic case. CONDITION: good as partially refinished. Bbls. retaining nearly all of a good quality reblack. Action retains maybe 20-30% case hardening color where protected and is mostly pewter gray. Stocks retain most of their original oil finish with a large scattering of minor marks. Checkering is lightly worn. All bores are bright and shiny. Action is tight. Mechanically good. Scope has a small number of minor scratches and a few rubs through its exterior lacquer.
