EARLY LEATHER-COVERED POWDER OR SHOT JUG. Great carved wood jug, 7" tall x 2.5" wide covered with split and polished harness leather tacked onto the jug. A leather loop handle is attached near the top on one side, along with the remnant of a leather thong that once held the bottle stopper. The name "AH COLT" is painted on one side. We are uncertain about this age of this container, though clearly it predates the Civil War. Usual expected wear, leather with great patina, wooden spout chipped in two places.
