EARLY FLINTLOCK FOWLER EXTENSIVELY RESTORED.
Cal. approx. 66 smoothbore. NSN. 42" oct. to rnd., unmarked. Lock has plate w/ rebated tail, serpentine cock & bridled friction frizzen. Stock has incised lines around lock & sideplate & some relief carved scroll behind bbl. tang. Butt section is also raised above grip in attractive style. Furniture is of brass & engraved. Trigger guard has acorn finial. Patch box has sliding wooden cover. CONDITION: bbl. & lock are mostly dark brown patina. Cock appears to be old replacement. Stock from muzzle is replaced, as is patchbox cover. Barrel has been spliced at a point approx. 11 3/4" in from the muzzle, leaving a slightly smaller bore, the rest of the way to the breech. Splice is hard to detect on outside but visible inside the bore under light. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Gary Parietti. (01-19013/MGM). ANTIQUE. $700-1,100.
