EARLY COLT 1ST CONTRACT DRAGOON REVOLVER AKA FLUCK MODEL
EARLY COLT 1ST CONTRACT DRAGOON REVOLVER AKA FLUCK MODEL. Cal. 44 Perc. Rare revolver with 7-1/2” oct to round bbl, German silver front sight with bbl address reading from cylinder to muzzle. It has small “P” proofs visible on all the original parts. It has the square back brass trigger guard. The bottom of the butt has the scratched initials “WGL”. The trigger slot has a rounded front edge like the Walker. The “Colt’s Patent” and “U.S.” markings are centered on the left side of the frame and the serial numbers are very tiny. SN 2258. CONDITION: Good, all matching except the wedge and operating handle which are unnumbered. The wedge, however, has the proper “P” proof, as does the operating handle. No original finish remains, being a very dark brown patina overall with crusted rust and pitting on bbl with bbl lug mostly smooth patina. The operating handle bbl hinge is broken and missing a small piece. The frame retains 60-70% silvered case hardening with light patina and fine pitting. The cylinder is a smooth brown patina with some light pitting around the front edge. Retains 20-25% visible Indian fight scene. The trigger guard and backstrap are a medium mustard patina. Grips have a hairline on the left side at the frame and a re-glued chip at the left toe. The right toe is missing a chip and another small chip at the frame. There is the outline of a cartouche on the left side, but heavy wear has obscured the one on the right side. It has a strong bore with some shine, dark with pitting. 4-49485
