EARLY COLT 1851 NAVY REVOLVER. Cal. 36 Perc. Early 3rd type with rammer screw entering from the right and thin lug. It has 7-1/2” oct bbl, cone brass front sight, one-line New York City with dashes marking. Silver-plated, brass, small round trigger guard and backstrap with 1-pc walnut grips. SN 4556. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, all matching including the wedge. This revolver has seen very little use, if any at all. Retains about 85% original blue, thin in the middle areas turning brown with some tiny specks of pitting. The operating handle has been polished and blued on the left side only. The right side retains about half of the casehardening color around the pivot. The frame retains 85-90% dark case colors with a clean spot on the left side. The cylinder retains about 30-40% thin blue, mixed with light patina and scattered spot or two of rust. Retains 97-98% crisp naval battle scene and all 6 of its safety pins are nearly intact. The trigger guard and backstrap retain 94-95% strong original silver plating with only a spot or two missing on the trigger guard. Grips are exceptional with very minor edge wear and a handling mark or two, retaining about all of its original bright varnish. . 4-49494
