The ivory L-shaped handle on this cane is made in 2 parts, joined at a 45 degree angle at the elbow. The 3.5"horizontal part is plain, but the 3" vertical part has a high-relief carving of a gentleman with a beard and moustachewearing a Swiss mountain hat with 2 feathers flowing to the back, giving the gentleman the appearance of "RobinHood." The 1" wide gold-filled collar has a shield for inscription with floral and acanthus leaf scrolls covering therest of the band. The malacca shaft has a worn steel ferrule. There are several shrinkage cracks, one of which showssome separation running from the collar to the very back of the carved hat. Overall length is 35.75".(EST 200-300)
