EARLY 20TH CENTURY CARTRIDGE BOARD OF CARTOUCHERIE

FRANCAISE. A superb and seldom encountered cartridge board measuring 29 1/2" x 23 3/4" for Cartoucherie Francaise. The company was founded in 1903 in Survilliers, France. From this small town, Cartoucherie Francaise became one of the largest producers of ammunition & military pyrotechnics in France. The height of their production was during WWI when they turned out ammunition night & day for 4 years to support the war effort. The company nearly disappeared during WWII but reemerged from the conflagration to again produce ammunition in the post war era. The frame contains several shotgun shells produced by the company as well as charges, wads & covers. There are boxes & tins of 22 Cal., 6mm, and 9mm ammunition consisting of both bullets and shot. Lastly, a selection of primers are mounted below the charges. CONDITION: the display board remains in wonderful condition showing very little wear to the contents or the frame. The green background is a bit faded, but all boxes & ammunition show bright, crisp colors and sharp imprinting. (02-18082/BF). $2,000-3,000.
