Dine Alfresco with this vintage picnic set. This is a wonderful early 1900s (I believe) picnic set. It was made by Coracle in England, one of the finest known picnic set makers. With any picnic basket you will always find things missing and things added to suit your own needs. So is the case with this one. The three knives are Sheffield so I believe they probably came with the set. The salt and pepper for sure has been added but it is certainly appropriate because the top closure keeps it from spilling. Besides the great basket the rare porcelain and tin food containers are to die for. The square one is 6 1/2" wide by 5" tall and the oblong one is about 10" long by 5" tall and they are in excellent condition. They are original with the Coracle Brand Trademark on the bottom of each one. The basket is about 20 X 11, has all of its original closures and has some minor wear. Leather straps hold the items on the inside of the lid. There is also a round porcelain container with lid that would be from the era but I don't know if it was original to the set. A really great and scarce item.
