The cover is embosed LISK and the two metal steam vents with wire handles are patented May 2, 1911. They cover the hole in the top of the cover and can be swung to the side to vent the steam out of the roaster before the cover is raised, thus preventing a person from burning their hands or face. This graniteware roaster is dark cobalt with fine white flecks inside and out. It has the original handled insert which is 9 1/2 by 15 without the handles. The roaster is 11 by 16 and 7" deep. It does have wear and some enamel missing butwear and signs of age are to be expected, since this was utility ware and received heavy use in busy households. If you are looking for perfect in utility ware this is not for you. The Lisk Mfg. Co. Canandaigua, N.Y. started in 1889 and were famous for these self basting roasters. Overall a nice piece.
