<td width="100%">
The Thousand Eye pattern was made by two companies during the 1880's and 90's. This one was made by Adams & Company of Pittsburgh, PA. The other company was Richards & Hartley of Tarentum, PA. The pattern was originally called Adams' No. 130. It is also known as Banded Thousand Eye and also as Three Knob. This compote is actually a Cake Basket and is supposed to have a bale handle made of metal. The handle is missing but in one photo I show where it was attached. I have seen them with and without the handle. This basket is only mentioned as a Square Compote on High Standard the reference material that I have on hand. The bowl is squared at the rim where the fans are in each corner. This basket stands 6-1/4" tall at the corners and is 8-1/2" square. The round foot is 4-1/4" in diameter. You can see the four flying buttresses on the sides of the pedestal and on some pieces there are the knobs. The glass looks a little green in the photo but it is actually clear. This compote or basket is in excellent condition with no chips, flakes or cracks.
