This is a beautiful open compote made by the McKee Brothers Glass Company of Pittsburgh, PA circa 1870. This pattern name is Scalloped Diamond and is shown in the 1868 and 1871 catalogs of McKee Brothers. The price list also shows 10" bowls on high foot being sold wholesale at $18.00 per dozen. This bowl on high standard is 9-1/2" tall, 10-1/4" in diameter at the rim and the foot is 5-1/4" in diameter. The bowl is about 3-1/2" deep. The bowl and the standard are wafer joined. One of the small scallopes on the rim does have thumb sized flake. It is not very noticeable but it is there and it's shown in photo #4. This compote weight is 4 pounds 10.5 oz. It also has a low dull ring to it but it is non flint. There are no other chips, flakes or cracks in this impressive and large compote.
