This is a beautiful cream pitcher in the Liberty Bell pattern made by Adams & Company of Pittsburgh, PA., circa 1876. It was made on the grounds at the Phildelphia Centennial Exposition of 1876 and sold as souvenirs. Adams called this Independence Centennial Ware. For decades this pattern was attributed to Gillinder & Sons. Gillinder did produce Centennial souvenirs and tablewares. But research by Jane Spillman, of the Corning Museum of Glass, found reports from the Centennial regarding Adam's production that clearly describe pieces in the Liberty Bell pattern. This creamer is 6-1/2" tall at the spout, 3-1/4" in diameter at the rim, plus the spout and applied reeded handle. The bowl is 4-1/4" deep and the foot is 3-1/4" in diameter. The applied reeded handle is in perfect condition with no heat checks or cracks, and has the squiggle attachment at the bottom. The Liberty Bell is below the spout while the word Ago is slightly obscured by the attachement of the handle on the "100 Years Ago" side. There may be some bubbles and straw marks but there are no chips, flakes or cracks.
