This is a beautiful Early American Pattern Glass milk white open sugar bowl in the Fairfax Strawberry pattern in flint milk glass or opal glass. This pattern was designed by John Bryce and patented on February 22, 1870 and made at the Bryce, Walker & Co. in Pittsburgh, PA. The catalogs at the time offered sugar bowls with and without lids. Sometimes these open sugars are called buttermilk goblets. This beautiful EAPG sugar is 4-3/4" tall and 4" in diameter at the rim. The foot is 3-1/2" in diameter. When tapped with a finger the ring is bell like and long lasting. There may be some bubbles and straw marks but there are no chips, flakes or cracks.
