This is a great find in Flint Opaque Milk Glass. The Melton pattern is a very nice Gothic style pattern made circa 1870 possibly but the maker remains unknown so far. The pattern is also known as Recessed Ovals by Alice Hulett Mettz as shown in her Early American Pattern Glass page 216. This spoon holder is 5-3/8" tall, 3-1/2" in diameter and the foot is 3". The pattern consists of a series of arches with thumbprints in each and a row of diamonds below. This is another nice item for the collector that has everything. There may be some bubbles and straw marks but there are no chips, flakes or cracks.
