This is a beautiful dome covered butter dish made by many firms including McKee Glass Co of Jeannette, PA circa 1896-1902; Cambridge Glass Co. of Cambridge, OH circa 1902-1903 and Beatty Brady Glass Co. of Dunkirk, IN circa 1903. The original names of this pattern were Cambridge Glass No. 669 and McKee's Doric. It is also known as Cambridge Feather; Feather and Quill; Fine Cut and Feather; Indiana Feather; Indiana Swirl; Prince's Feather; Swirl; and also as Swirl and Feather. The butter dish bowl is 7" in diameter and 1-3/4" deep and the dome cover is 5-1/4" in diameter and when on the bowl the total height is 5-1/2". The cover has the plane rim but the bowl is different than the butter pictured in Early American Pattern Glass Collector's Identification and Price Guide by Darryl Reilly and Bill Jenks. The picture shows a straight sided bowl while the one I am showing has a flared rim. Around that rim there are some flea bites on the mold line and there may also be some bubbles and straw marks. There are no chips, flakes or cracks.
