This is a beautiful compote or cake stand. It is in the Deep Ribbed Stem pattern shown in Milk Glass by E. M. Belknap page 129 (shallow) and 130 (deep). Now his shallow compote is 2" deep and the deep one is 3" deep. This one is just barely 1" deep and 9-1/4" in diameter. It is 6" tall and the foot is 4-3/4" in diameter. The reticulated rim is in perfect condition and the surface of the plate is hand painted with red flowers with green stems and leaves. Belknap does not mention a makers name on this piece but to me it looks more like Atterbury than Challinor & Taylor. Westmoreland reproduced similar patterns and also McKee Glass had a split rib pattern for the covered dishes. This piece is in perfect condition with no chips, flakes or cracks.
