Featured in this lot is this Model 6 leather & split willow fishing creel made by E.P. Peters in Portland, Oregon in the early 20th Century. Little information is available on E.P. Peters and his craft but some information can be found in Chatham and McClain's book titled, "The Art of the Creel", specifically on pages 96-101. This creel shows intricately tooled leather with geometric and floral designs throughout. and a leather and metal buckle latch on the front to secure the lid. It is unmarked but comes with an appraisal from Gary L. Estabrook, a specialist in fishing and hunting in Washington. The creel does not come with a shoulder strap. It shows good condition overall with slight wear present from its age and use over the years, but no major signs of damage is noted. It measures 8 1/4" L x 17 1/4" W x 10 3/8" H and weighs 3 pounds and 2 ounces.
