From the Nick and Suzanne Nicholas Collection we have a Dynamic Santo Domingo Olla by Rafaelita Aguilar, measures 11.5''H x 11.5''W, thick walled, heavy weight, gorgeous black on black teardrop designs, scalloped design along base, flared rim, signed on bottom by artist ''Rafealita Aguilar P.O. Box 87052'' with two daisy flowers, Rafaelita Aguilar (Santo Domingo) was born in 1937 into the Santo Domingo Pueblo. Rafaelita continues a long lived tradition of hand coiling ancient traditional style of black on black pottery. She was inspired to learn the art of working with clay from her mother, Miguelita Aguilar. Miguelita passed down all the fundamentals of working with clay and using ancient methods. Rafaelita specializes in hand coiling the large black on black and red traditional Santo Domingo pottery. The clay is gathered from within the Santo Domingo Pueblo and fired outdoors with straw, bark, and manure. Rafaelita is from Kewa/Santo Domingo Pueblo and has been creating pottery since 1953 and follows the traditional methods for creating pottery of the Aguilar family which began in the early 1900's. Rafaelita specializes in exceptionally large pottery vessels, which are stone-polished and pit-fired. She is the aunt of Robert Aguilar.

*** The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be the purchaser, regardless of the time the bids were placed. In the event of a tie between bidders, the auctioneer shall have the sole and final discretion either to determine the successful bidder or to re-offer and resell the article in dispute. If any dispute arises after sale, the Company's sale record shall be conclusive in all respects.
