Dwight D. Eisenhower WWII autograph letter signed as General. Just 2 weeks before D-Day, on 24 May [1944] he writes to his wife, Mamie, in part: ''...You mentioned your wire photo picture. I told you in a former note about receiving it and how much I liked the one of you. It is being framed to hang in my office...aside from all other jobs I have to do a recording for the British Broadcasting Company, and 2 movie tone appearances. What a chore! One talk is 3 minutes; the other 1 minute each. But they consume time in preparation, because one must be exceedingly careful of words!!! When this war is over I'm going to swear off speeches, writings, etc etc. I often wonder what you'd like to have me write about. There seems so little I can say in which you'd be interested. If I could talk about my daily doings, I know you'd be intrigued - but I cannot...I'm sending along a news photo they've just made of me. It is for your private room - so I've written on it what I meant - not something to show about. This is a hectic day - but I have time to want you & miss you and to hope you're well. I love you only - / Always / Ike''. 2pp. letter on ruled stationery measures 8'' x 10.5''. Toning and creasing, with a tiny chip to the top of the first page, else near fine.
