Dwight D. Eisenhower WWII autograph letter signed to his wife. He dates his letter simply 7 October. It reads in full: ''Dear Mamie: The Air Chief Marshal is due in to see me now - but is a few minutes late. I sent you a note by Gens. Spaatz & Smith - I don't know which one carried it. It seems to me that every time I write - which is several times a week - I'm telling you about a particularly hectic period, which I hope will let up in a day or so. Sometimes it's this - at others it's that - but I manage to keep at a high pitch all the time. Had a long V-mail from Mike today, telling me the news of herself and children. I sent her a letter not long ago for a little boy that is crippled. She wrote to thank me. Actually I think I hear from her as often as I do from you. Also I had a letter today from John; just a short note. Says all he is trying to do now is to stay 'pro' in his studies! Here is my appointment coming up - so good bye, with loads of love - Always your / Ike / P.S. All the people in my personal group are well & fine.'' 1pp. letter on ruled stationery measures 8'' x 10.5''. Creasing and a small ink smudge near the bottom edge, else near fine.
