Typed letter signed, 7 x 10.25, personalized "DDE" letterhead, June 3, 1967. Addressed to actress Joan Crawford, Eisenhower writes in part, "I hope you will accept my apology for the delay in thanking you for your very great courtesy in meeting my party and me at the Camelot Theatre in Palm Springs. All the others in our party assumed you were going to sit with us and it was only I, the last one to take a seat, who realized that you had other things to do and had a chance to thank you. When we came across the country by train I started to write to you but reaching here I almost immediately stricken with a painful illness and spent almost two weeks in the hospital." Beautifully signed "Dwight D. Eisenhower" at the conclusion in black ink and in fine condition. Stapled along with the letter is the original free-franked envelope, a carbon of Crawford's reply to Eisenhower, and her New York Times clipping of Eisenhower's attendance of his granddaughter's school graduation.
