Dwight Eisenhower typed letter signed on Supreme Headquarters letterhead dated 9 June 1944. Only three days after D-Day, General Eisenhower generously took the time to respond to a woman in Lancashire, England. The shoulder sleeve insignia mentioned is an embroidered patch worn on military uniforms to identify the headquarters to which a soldier is assigned. Letter reads in full: ''Dear Mrs. Watts: Thank you for your letter and good wishes. I am enclosing my new shoulder sleeve insignia, which I hope you will like. Sincerely, [signed] Dwight Eisenhower''. 1pp. measures 5.5'' x 7.25'' Presented with portrait of Eisenhower in 3-star military uniform measuring 6.5'' x 9.0''. Gallery matted in gold colored frame with black flecks measuring in full 17.25'' x 13.25''. Minor creasing, else near fine.
