Unique free-franked mailing envelope, 6.5 x 3.75, addressed in type to “John H. Thompson, P.O. Box 1, Torrington, Conn,” franked in the upper left, as president, “Dwight D. Eisenhower,” and marked “Free” in pencil in another hand. Envelope bears a February 18, 1954, Palm Springs, California, postmark. In fine condition, with a bit of mild toning. Eisenhower's franking signature is often seen as Commander in Chief of the Allied Forces, but this example as president is reportedly unique.
