TLS, one page, 6.75 x 9.75, personal five-star letterhead, October 30, 1951. Letter to James Melton in New York, written from "Supreme Headquarters, Allied Powers Europe," in part: "I was interested to know about your television show. TV is one thing we miss very much over here—I was getting to be quite a fan." Handsomely matted and framed with a portrait of Ike in uniform to an overall size of 20.5 x 16. The frame's backing bears a Goodspeed's Book Shop label. In fine condition. Melton was a popular singer in the 1920s and 1930s before transitioning to opera later in his career; in 1951–52 he hosted the Ford Motor Company-sponsored Ford Festival, otherwise known as The James Melton Show, on NBC.
