TLS as president, one page, 6.75 x 8.75, White House letterhead, October 10, 1960. Letter to James L. Dixon, in full: "One of my associates ran across, in the real estate columns of our papers on Saturday, the 'open letter' you wrote to me. This note is merely to thank you most deeply for your confidence and support—and for your understanding." In very good to fine condition, with a rectangular stain to the upper left edge. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, as well as an original newspaper clipping of Dixon's 'open letter,' which reads, in part: "Accused by some of playing too much golf during his term of office—President Eisenhower has been made the butt of a lot of bad golf jokes—to which my answer is…Any President who can end an inherited Korean War in 1953; keep us out of war ever since…and can find time to play golf in the meantime—that man, be he D. or R., can run my share of the country anytime."
