Vintage matte-finish 8 x 10.25 portrait of Eisenhower seated in his military uniform, signed and inscribed in the lower border in fountain pen, "To Brig. Gen. Red O'Hare—with lasting appreciation of outstanding war service and with warm regards—from his old friend, Ike Eisenhower.” In very good condition, with light scratches, an area of surface gouging by Ike's left ear, and the signature slightly affected by light dampstaining. O'Hare graduated from West Point in 1916, and went on to serve in both world wars. During WWII, O'Hare accrued a wealth of impressive positions, including Assistant Chief of Staff of the 1st US Army and the 12th Army Group, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army Service Forces, European Theater of Operations, Assistant G-1 in the Army General Staff, and as a Military attaché in France until his retirement in 1953.
