Partly-printed DS as president, one page, 22.75 x 19, June 27, 1960. President Eisenhower appoints Dr. Philip Hauge Abelson as "a Member of the General Advisory Committee to the Atomic Energy Commission." Signed at the conclusion by Eisenhower; countersigned in autopen by Secretary of State Christian A. Herter. The crisply embossed paper seal affixed to the lower left remains fully intact. Permanently affixed to a same-size board. In fine condition, with light toning and foxing primarily constrained to the margins. Physical chemist Philip Hauge Abelson proposed the gas diffusion process for separating uranium-235 from uranium-238; this uranium-separation process proved essential to the development of the atomic bomb.
