Partly-printed DS as president, one page, 15.5 x 11.5, June 24, 1960. President Eisenhower appoints Raymond A. Hare of West Virginia as “a Foreign Service Officer of the Class of Career Ambassador if the United States of America.” Prominently signed at the conclusion by President Eisenhower; countersignature of Secretary of State Christian Herter appears to be autopen. The large paper seal is very crisp and fully intact. In fine condition, with areas of light toning. Throughout his career, Hare served as ambassador to various Middle Eastern countries as well as president of the Middle East Institute.
