Signed book: Crusade in Europe. First edition, later printing. Garden City, NY: Doubleday, 1948. Hardcover with dust jacket, 6.25 x 8.75, 559 pages. Signed on a bookplate affixed to the dedication page in fountain pen, “Dwight D. Eisenhower,” below a typed inscription, “To Pearce W. Sherman, With best wishes.” In very good to fine condition, with light toning to pages, scattered small tears, foxing, and soiling to dust jacket, and a gift inscription to the half-title page. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope and a letter of transmittal for the bookplate from Eisenhower’s secretary, dated December 8, 1948.
