TLS as president-elect, signed “Ike E.,” one page, 7 x 10.25, personal letterhead, November 20, 1952. Letter to General C. R. Huebner, director of the New York State Civilian Defense. In full: "Heartiest congratulations on your Birthday Monday. May health and happiness be yours for many more anniversaries." A carbon copy of Huebner's response is stapled to the front, noting that they "are making great progress in Civil Defense." In very good to fine condition, with light, slightly irregular toning, and a carbon of the recipient's letter to Eisenhower stapled to the upper left corner.

"Ike E" is a rare and highly personal formulation of Eisenhower's signature, and he had been elected to the presidency just sixteen days earlier. Huebner had been commander of the 1st Infantry Division and V Corps in WWII under Eisenhower.
