Sought-after DS as president, one page, 6.75 x 12.75, August 25, 1959. Official nomination letter from the White House, in full: "To the Senate of the United States, I nominate David A. Lindsay, of New York, to be General Counsel for the Department of the Treasury, to succeed Nelson P. Rose." Signed boldly at the conclusion by President Eisenhower. Archivally matted and framed with an engraving and the original presidential red wax seal, removed from the official communication sent to the Senate, to an overall size of 17.75 x 18.25. In fine condition, with a couple areas of faint toning. Nelson P. Rose became general counsel to the Treasury in the Eisenhower Administration, after having been chief counsel to the Internal Revenue Service from 1957 to 1959. He was awarded the department's Alexander Hamilton Medal.
