Rare Dwight D. Eisenhower ''Crusade in Europe'' signed first edition with original slipcase. New York: Doubleday & Company: 1948. Signed limited edition of 1426 copies, numbered 682. Boldly signed ''Dwight D. Eisenhower'' in black ink beneath the rare facsimile printing of Eisenhower's D-Day order to send troops to storm the beaches of Normandy. The text is Eisenhower's personal account of World War II with a table of contents that starts with ''Platform For Invasion'' and stretches past ''Hitler's Last Bid.'' 2pp. map of WWII Europe is printed on front endpapers. Gilded tan cloth boards, top edges gilt and deckled edges. Illustrated throughout with numerous black and white photographs, maps and diagrams by artist Rafael Palacios. Volume measures 6.5'' x 10'' and runs 559pp. With original slipcase which has done its job well of protecting the book. Slipcase is in good to very good condition with chipping and some discoloration. Book is near fine.
