This trumpet is known in Tibetan as dung-dkar and was made of a white to rosé colored conch shell. The instrument is ornate with ornaments carved in clear relief. So a fearsome Mahakala, heightened in dark brown, as well as a fungus of longevity are visible. Richly decorated silver mountings adorn the shell and inserts of turquoise and coral can be found on the left edge. The silver mountings of the dung-dkar show floral ornaments and different animals. Revolving borders and strings of pearls decorate the edges and frame the ornaments. The sound is created by blowing through the mouthpiece on one end, much like a trumpet. This trumpet has been used in the recorded history as a religious musical instrument, used to invoke spirits or banish evil.

The trumpet is in good condition with only slight signs of age and wear. Small scratches and natural inclusions in the conch shell as well as in some stones are visible. The length measures 22 cm. (lvp)
