This is a fully red tinted example from a bank in which all but a handful of notes are SENC, as is this piece. It's signed by S.S. Raplee as Cashier and J.T. Raplee as "Banker." The bank, which moved to Penn Yan after only four months in Dundee, did not have a happy ending, suspending operations in 1869 after surrendering its state charter in 1866, and its notes were redeemed by the State Banking Department at 20% of face value. By 1870, a mere $1447 remained outstanding from both issuing locations. If this were a National of equivalent rarity and desirability, we would easily be talking about a five figure estimate, but, as an obsolete, this lovely <B>Very Fine+</B></I> specimen will likely see bidding end in the region of...
