Duke Ellington "Stormy Weather" Hand Written Score (undated). For a die-hard Jazz enthusiast, few documents would make a more treasured showpiece than a hand written Duke Ellington chart. "Stormy Weather" was originally composed in 1933 by Harold Arlen and Ted Koehler and Ethel Waters first sang it at The Cotton Club in Harlem. While the tune has since been covered by Jazz giants as diverse as Frank Sinatra and Django Reinhardt, it would be hard for any performance to top this delightful arrangement by Duke Ellington. This lot includes a letter of provenance from J. Bradley Shigeta which reads, "This letter is to confirm that all of the Duke Ellington manuscripts/scores/miscellaneous sketches in my possession were given to me by Mercer Ellington in 1995 as a personal gift for my assistance with the Duke Ellington Orchestra."

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
