Dublin Saddlery Texas Custom Stable-1910 Extremely Rare and Early Dublin Saddlery circa 1910 Texas C
Extremely Rare and Early Dublin Saddlery circa 1910 Texas Custom Saddle. Fully floral carved with large German silver corner plates. Silver lined 5 1/2" cantle and gullet, slick fork, square skirt. Elaborate custom saddles are an extreme rarity from this time period in Texas. Clearly marked, "Dublin Saddlery, Dublin, Texas" in the center of the seat. Dublin was home to Gene Autry's Flying A Rodeo in the 1940s and today boasts a historical museum dedicated to its cowboy past. Note: There is no known record of the Dublin Saddlery in reference books that are readily available. The saddle's maker was obviously of extreme talent and could have possibly been an employee of one of the large saddleries of Texas' nearby boomtowns. It was common in the day for saddle makers who worked for others to produce saddles under their own brand. The saddlery name is tooled into the seat rather than stamped with a manufactured cartouche further supporting this theory. Courtesy of Bruce Bartlett, San Antonio. Consigned Lot

This 2006 March Texas State Historical Association Charity Auction is being held in Austin, TX on February 12 - March 4, 2006.
