Dual glass sided framed historic original hand written document approx. 7-1/2” x 9-1/2” marked “From his Ex. Gen. Washington, 6 Jany 1780” and stating as follows: “Head Quarters, Jany 6th 1780, Sir: As it willcontribute in some degree to relieve our distress on the subject of provisions, I am to desire that you will discharge all the men in the Brigade under your command whose inlistments & terms of service will clearlyexpire by the lst of this month. In conducting the matter you will be pleased to call on the commanding officers of regiments to prevent discharges of any not coming within the above description. I am Sir, Your Most obet Serv’t . . . .”. The signature has unfortunately been cut out of the document. This extremely significant document is in overall very good condition for its age showing some aging, old tape,slight foxing and fraying at the edges but nothing that affects the readability of the letter.
