Dracula's Daughter (Universal, 1936). Half Sheet (22 X Dracula's Daughter (Universal, 1936).
Dracula's Daughter (Universal, 1936). Half Sheet (22" X 28"). Immediately following the events of the original "Dracula," the daughter of the notorious vamp, Countess Marya Zaleska (Gloria Holden), wants to avoid the family's curse of vampirism, but temptation soon begins to take hold, and like her father, she soon eyes jugulars lustily. She especially prefers the blood of female victims, but the Sapphic eroticism becomes subsumed in the necessary heterosexual romance, in the Countess' love for a scientist. Edward Van Sloan returns to his role from the first film, vampire hunter Van Helsing. Bela Lugosi is absent, and history can only imagine the film James Whale would have made had he and his outrageous script remained involved in the production. Nevertheless, many fans regard the film among the best of the vintage Universal horror films. This half sheet represents the film well, approximating the moody atmosphere of the film. The condition of the poster does not distract from the image: only two small tears on the bottom edge, slight fold separation on the left side, and light crease marks near the top. Very Fine.
