Dracula's Author. As Manager for actor
Dracula's Author. As Manager for actor Sir Henry Irving: Interesting pair of A.Ls.S., 1890s, from newspaperman W.E. Bruant to a theatregoer. On letterhead of Boston Journal, he gives advice on procuring tickets to see Irving, the first English actor to be Knighted and who toured America eight times. "...The enclosed order if presented to Mr. Childs at the inner foyer...at about 7:40 (the play begins at 7:45) will...procure you the seats...Mr. Childs should not be there, then present note to Bram Stoker, Irving's agent...." As drama critic, Stoker made the acquaintance of his idol, Sir Henry Irving, and for 27 years acted as his manager in both America and England. In 1897, Stoker wrote Dracula, as a novel which enjoyed tremendous success as a play and later as a film.
