Dr. A.A. Brill. Noted psychiatrist who
Dr. A.A. Brill. Noted psychiatrist who taught at N.Y.U. and Columbia University, and translated works of Sigmund Freud and Jung. T.L.S., 1934, on his printed New York City letterhead, to publisher. "...I have known Miss Freud since she was a little bit of a girl, but I can only talk in a general way about her training, etc. She received the usual education in the Vienna schools, and then graduated as a teacher and taught school for some time. It was during her activities as a pedagogue that she became interested in problems of children and gradually developed a psychoanalytic for children...As a secretary to her father and in constant collaboration with him, one might say that she received no little help in this development of her methods from her distinguished father." An unusual letter of recommendation! Small date stamp in blank area, two rust marks of paper clip, dampstain at top and bottom margins, manuscript filing note in corner. Miss Freud's name underlined, apparently with same pen as used to sign Brill's bold signature. Rare and unusual association.
