Doulton Rare Lambeth Faience Frog and Tadpole Vase
Rectangular footed vase by Doulton Lambeth in faience pottery, featuring hand-painted decoration of a frog perched on a rocky shore amid reeds, with tadpoles swimming nearby. The opposing side of the vessel shows bamboo stalks, butterflies, and the reverse of the frog figure in motion. The glaze is rendered in tonal shades of turquoise, green, and yellow against a naturalistic ground, with a cream-colored interior and a flared square rim accentuated by a brown trim. The piece is raised on four brown-glazed feet. Underside bears the Doulton Lambeth Faience impressed stamp, artists' monograms, and painted number '975'.
