Doulton Burslem by Edward Raby, Double- Jester Handled Gilt Vase
Porcelain vase produced by Doulton Burslem, England, featuring a double-handled form with elaborate Jester molded Handles and painted details. The baluster body is decorated with an impressionistic floral motif in a vibrant palette of pink, purple, blue, yellow, and green. The body transitions into an ornate neck and foot highlighted with raised foliate scrollwork and heavy gilt accents. The neck of the vase is adorned with stylized Art Nouveau-inspired motifs in relief, accentuated by hand-applied gilding over a matte peach-toned glaze. The twin handles, extending from the shoulder, are formed with the face of a forest-spirit and scrolling arms, further embellished with fine gilt details. The base is molded with an egg-and-dart border pattern and finished with a matte green glaze and gilded foot rim. The artwork is hand-painted and signed "E. Raby." The underside bears the green printed Doulton Burslem mark with a crown and rosette.
