Douglas MacArthur Typed Souvenir Manuscript Signed of his famous speech before a Joint Session of Congress on April 19, 1951. The actual spoken text of the speech was neatly typed (double spaced, front only) on 14 pages of Lincoln Library stationery and MacArthur added his ink signature just above the title on the first page. This is the famous speech in which he says in closing, "Old soldiers never die; they just fade away. And like the old soldier of that ballad, I now close my military career and just fade away, an old soldier who tried to do his duty as God gave him the light to see that duty. Good-by." Fine condition, one barely visible spot on the front page. A most desirable item from this legendary military figure. From the Henry E. Luhrs Collection.
