War-dated original pen-and-ink sketch of MacArthur in uniform accomplished by an artist on an off-white 8.5 x 11 sheet, signed in the lower corner in fountain pen by the general, "Douglas MacArthur," and dated "3-22-45" in another hand. In very good condition, with overall creasing, two horizontal mailing folds, a light paperclip impression to the top edge, and light toning from prior display.

On March 2, 1945, General MacArthur officially declared the liberation of the Philippines. Just 13 days after the date on this drawing, on April 4, 1945, it was announced that General MacArthur would take control of all army forces in the Pacific and Admiral Nimitz all naval forces in preparation for the invasion of Japan. On September 2, 1945, MacArthur accepted the surrender of Japan aboard the U.S.S. Missouri in Tokyo Bay.
